Short Update – Tropical Fruit

Availability of dehydrated Pineapple over the past couple of years has been low due to poor crops in 2018 and 2019, resulting in higher prices than we have seen for some time. The most recent Pineapple crop was better though, with volumes increasing by around 35%, from 810,000mt in 2019 to 1,260,000mt in 2020. We did see some softening in prices late last year once harvesting was complete, but, since the new year we are seeing that market firm again. Papaya and Mango prices have been relatively stable but as normal, prices could increase in Q2/Q3 as availability decreases.
