Current estimations of 3.133m fst (farmer stock tonnes) show a slight increase from last year’s crop of 3.108m. There were notable increases from some states, Virginia by around 11,000 fst/17%, North Carolina by around 36,000 fst/15% and Texas by around 40,000 fst/14%. The most notable decrease from last year would be from Georgia, with around 45,000 fst less than last year, however this only equates to around a 2.5% decrease.
Planting is well underway in South America. Brazil have again planted more peanuts, early estimations indicate a 4-5% increase which would produce around 580,000-600,000 metric tonnes. It is believed that Argentina have planted approximately 17,000 hectares less this year, which would equate to around a 4% reduction, producing approximately 1.2m-1.3m metric tonnes.
