Logistics Update - February 2021 - Part 1

It seems irrelevant whether goods come by air, sea or road, there are major logistical issues within the supply chain at present. In 2020 we saw huge increases in ocean freight prices from the far east, with some shipping lines quoting up to 500% more than they did the month previous. This has continued into 2021 with no real knowledge of when this will return to normality, however, we are of the opinion that it could be June or July until we see some real change.

In late 2020 we really started to see the impact Covid was having on the supply chain and first hand with various ports within the UK, with Felixstowe seemingly being the most affected. Felixstowe seems to have cleared some of the backlog however the problems could just have been passed to other UK ports to share the burden.
